Our Ali Asghar Water Appeal focuses on providing long-term sustainable water relief to impoverished communities. Last year, this involved providing agricultural communities with access to water to irrigate their farms and earn a stable income.
Your donations funded a water irrigation system in the Hilman District in Afghanistan, where farming families have been struggling severely due to the dry weather conditions. You helped to provide 1,000 families with water from the irrigation system for their daily needs.
This saves the residents of Hilman from having to travel 5km to fetch water and resolves farming problems as farmers are now able to grow crops and provide a living for their families.
Your funds have provided water to Amira*, who is a disabled mother of 8, and a grandmother of 7. Before the water irrigation was installed, Amira and her family could not work on their land to harvest crops and would work on other people’s farms to earn a small income that could barely support her large family. They are now able to grow their own crops and have resources for not only this harvest season but also have seeds for the next season, ensuring her family is supported sustainably.
